Anxiety

Anxiety disorders cause severe and irrational worry. Learn about the different types of anxiety disorders, the symptoms of each, how they are diagnosed and treated, and find additional resources.

Depression

Depression can be overwhelming to face alone. However, by recognizing the signs and understanding the side effects, you will be more able to recognize this behavioral condition in yourself and others and seek help from your healthcare team.

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder,  otherwise known as manic depression, is a serious behavioral health condition that can leave those affected feeling out of control and out of options. 

ADHD/ADD

ADHD/ADD treatment focuses on reducing symptoms, while giving people with ADHD and their families new behaviors and skills to help manage ADHD and live well with the condition. 

Post Traumatic Stress Disporder (PTSD)

Our body is designed to respond to stressful situations for short period of times to keep us safe and alert us to danger. When this stress response keeps happening, even when the person is safe and no longer in danger, it might lead to or become PTSD.

Most people will experience a traumatic or dangerous event in their lifetime. This may be the unexpected death of a loved one, or surviving a natural disaster. In most cases, the person will recover naturally. Those who continue to experience symptoms associated with the event may be diagnosed with PTSD.

The duration of PTSD will vary. Some people will recover within 6 months, while others have symptoms that last much longer. In some cases, the condition may become chronic.

Substance Abuse Disorder

Substance use disorders are often referred to as addictions. Misuse of substances such as drugs and alcohol can cause significant problems or distress. It can also lead to legal problems. A substance use disorder will often interfere with relationships and work responsibilities.

Substances that are frequently misused or used illegally include:

  • Alcohol
  • Marijuana
  • Prescription pills, such as pain pills, or anxiety pills
  • Methamphetamine
  • Opioids
  • Cocaine

When a person begins to misuse a substance, such as alcohol, they may not initially be impacted by negative effects. However, over time the harmful consequences of addiction may develop.

Postpartum Depression

Depression that occurs after childbirth.

Those who develop postpartum depression are at greater risk of developing major depression later on in life.
Symptoms might include insomnia, loss of appetite, intense irritability, and difficulty bonding with the baby.
Untreated, the condition may last months or longer. Treatment can include counseling, antidepressants, or hormone therapy.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is primarily used to overcome symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, EMDR has been found to effectively other mood and anxiety disorders, including depression, phobias, and panic disorder.Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing
